AOT District 8 Garage, Swanton, VT It was a beautiful day to be part of the Vermont Agency of Transportation’s event celebrating the new District 8 facilities recently built by PC Construction. Dozens of State representatives and officials were in attendance after traveling from Montpelier and visiting major State projects on the route to Swanton. The group’s journey culminated with lunch, a presentation and a tour of the new District 8 headquarters and primary maintenance garage facilities at the new 20-acre site.

The AOT executive team spoke about the importance of the planning and support for the project, which was many years in the making. The new centrally located site for District 8 replaces aging facilities previously used for more than 75 years, which also required excessive travel through downtown neighborhoods with the State’s equipment fleet.

PC is proud to deliver a highly successful project for AOT District 8 and its dedicated staff who maintain more than 1,500 miles of state highways in the northwest corner of the State, ranging from the Champlain Islands in the west through St. Albans and east to the base of Jay Peak in Montgomery.

The project features three standalone facilities including a 15,000-square-foot, 12-bay garage; a 10,000-square-foot salt and brine shed; and a new 2,900-square-foot office building. With the event held on Earth Day, it is fitting to note the top environmental features of the project, including a wood-pellet heating system, multiple PV solar arrays and Level 3 high-voltage EV chargers.AOT District 8 Garage, Swanton, VT AOT District 8 Garage, Swanton, VT
