Project Overview

Damage sustained during Tropical Storm Lee brought a 15-contract facility rebuild and upgrade project to fruition. This $135 million BAF project contract restored the 60-mgd plant’s functionality and automation using a BIOSTYR system, including the associated headworks, primary clarification, and solids handling processes. Upgrades to replace existing process systems touched nearly every aspect of the facility.

The scope included coarse screening, headworks, chemical system, biological aerated filter system, denitrification influent pumping station, gravity thickener distribution box and modifications, modifications to 10 primary settling tanks, primary sludge pumping systems and primary settling tank scum systems, and an administration building.
