Project Overview

This three-level, 23,000-square-foot addition to Maine Medical Center’s existing research institute houses open laboratories, lab support spaces, offices, clinical research space, a vivarium and a mechanical room. Work required the relocation of the existing clean-steam boiler and connections to the existing main heating boiler systems as well as the replacement of the primary electrical service and main transformer without disruption to the existing facility.

An extensive preconstruction process led to the development of several cost iterations, including the evaluation of various interior finish materials to achieve Maine Medical Center’s budget goals while maintaining program requirements.
