Middlebury College McCullough Student Center Renovations

The project included an 18,000-square-foot, four-floor renovation to Middlebury College’s performance and theatrical space located in the college’s original early 19th century gymnasium facility. Structural improvements to the performance floor were completed to accommodate the new audience seating system, and sound, lighting and HVAC systems were upgraded. The newly renovated McCullough Student Center houses a dressing room, expanded convenience store and a central lobby, and incorporates ADA access into the building that serves as the hub of campus activity. Thermal improvements to the existing building envelope dramatically improved the facility’s energy efficiency.

The renovation was completed on schedule with continuous access and minimal disruptions by leveraging thorough site investigations and creative temporary relocation solutions, all while protecting the center’s massive pipe organ throughout construction.
