Project Overview
This 17,000-square-foot multi-purpose center for art and education expanded the Shelburne Museum’s educational programs, brought new and exciting exhibits to visitors and—for the first time since its founding in 1947—transformed museum operations from seasonal to year-round. The space includes 5,000 square feet of new and flexible gallery space for exhibitions, a 130-seat auditorium and performance center and 2,000 square feet of flexible classroom space.
The exhibition galleries and auditorium are joined by a light-filled lobby and gallery space. The interior features local slate, beechwood flooring and high-efficiency HVAC and LED lighting systems. The exterior boasts a masonry base of local granite.
