Project Overview

This fast-track expansion of Unilever / Ben & Jerry’s existing food processing and industrial facility allowed the ice cream producer to increase pint production by as much as 44% at this facility. The 40,000-square-foot expansion included a new warehouse, packing hall, refrigeration room, sugar tank room and mixed storage space. Additional work included interior renovations, a new wastewater treatment plant to accommodate facility production, and extensive sitework.

A main feature of the new packing hall is the hardening tunnel, the components of which were shipped from Denmark with each piece being set by crane into the packing hall through a narrow roof opening for assembly.

Work included 25,000 cubic yards of excavation and incorporates 400 tons of structural steel and 62,000 square feet of metal wall panels.
