Project Overview

Construction of the 3,000-square-foot addition to the historic central plant created an entirely new front facade along with a new curved masonry wall enclosure to conceal the new and existing cooling towers. Work also included installation of a 1,500-ton electric centrifugal chiller with associated pumps, equipment and piping systems; new electrical supply and switchgear, including a major underground ductbank; extensive underground utility relocations; and a major telecommunications vault in the footprint of the expansion –all with no interruptions to ongoing operations. The addition also included infrastructure and floor space to house a future chiller.
