Project Overview

This new 26,000-square-foot cancer center houses dosimetry and patient exam room space, procedure planning and waiting rooms, patient registration, and private changing areas. Work included the installation of three linear accelerator vaults; a highly efficient building envelope with spray foam insulation, continuous air barrier and high-performance glazing. The facility was built into a hillside on the site of a former parking lot, reducing heating and cooling demands. A 22,000-square-foot public green roof garden, located directly above the new cancer center, features a multi-layer roof system and supplements the hospital’s food service.

Extensive excavation and concrete work was completed immediately adjacent to inpatient services and an existing underground parking garage.

This is the first hospital project in Vermont to receive LEED Gold and only the second in New England to achieve this status.
