Project Overview

This 38,000-square-foot expansion to Weidmann’s existing facility accommodates new and relocated press equipment and enhances production capabilities. The project included the installation of a new two-million-pound hydraulic board press and associated equipment, relocation of the wet-end equipment and modifications to the dry-end transport equipment. Due to the size and weight of the equipment, the hydraulic press was erected and the addition was built around it.

Challenges included a complex caisson foundation and precision sequencing of utility relocation. The majority of the architectural work was self-performed in conjunction with PC’s Special Projects group, including framing, drywall, taping, acoustical ceiling work, siding installation, miscellaneous metal erection and existing press demolition.
