Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the Good Shepherd Food Bank (GSFB) annual Coffee & Collaboration event in Portland, Maine, with my fellow PC employee owner, Senior Project Manager Mark Donovan. This event gave us the opportunity to learn about the organization and how PC Construction can help meet their needs. Last fall, PC raised funds to benefit the GSFB, but decided we wanted to do more to serve our fellow Mainers in need. Between networking with other local businesses and chatting with members of the GSFB staff, we learned that the food bank distributed 33.6 million meals in 2023 and procured 3.6 million pounds of food locally to be distributed to food pantries around the state. Very impressive!
It was an honor to listen to a presentation from GSFB’s new president, Heather Paquette, and to discuss how our unique skills in the construction industry can help the organization on other levels.
The GSFB is a non-profit organization serving our community to help fight food insecurity throughout the State of Maine. Founded in 1981, their mission is to help eliminate hunger by providing access to nutritious and culturally relevant food for people in need, building strong community partnerships, and mobilizing the public in the fight to end hunger.
