South Burlington, VT – The employee owners of PC Construction announced today that Maureen Usifer of Colchester, Vermont, has been elected to the company’s six-member Board of Directors. Usifer is the first woman to join the board, and her election marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Usifer joins a growing number of women in leadership at the South Burlington-based construction company.

“I’m incredibly honored to be joining the PC Construction team,” said Usifer. “This company has an impressive history, and an equally impressive resume of important and award-winning work. I’m eager to leverage my finance background to help the board to position PC for an exciting future.”

Usifer has more than 30 years of experience in the financial sector. She is a former Chief Financial Officer of Seventh Generation and was a longtime Vice President of Investor Relations for Church & Dwight, a consumer products company whose brand portfolio includes such highly successful labels as Arm & Hammer and Oxi-Clean.

She currently serves on the boards of BlackRock Capital Investment Corporation in New York, Liberty All-Star Funds in Boston and Healthy Living Markets in Burlington, Vermont. She was also appointed by Governor Phil Scott in 2017 to Vermont’s Green Mountain Care Board, which oversees and approves all budgets, insurance rates, and capital expenditures for hospitals in the state, and is actively engaged in health care reform.

PC President and CEO Jay Fayette had this to say about Usifer’s election: “As more women join the construction industry, we felt it was important that our leadership reflect and represent that increasingly diverse workforce. Maureen comes to us with an incredible background in finance and industry that will help us make smart investments as we continue to grow and strengthen the board’s fiduciary oversight to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan. We welcome her to our team and are excited to learn and benefit from all of the experience and perspective she brings to the table.”

Usifer is a graduate of St. Michael’s College in Winooski, and she earned her MBA in finance from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York.

PC’s board of directors now includes John Evans as Chairman, Scott Boardman, Don Gillis and Mike McWay, as well as PC President and CEO Jay Fayette.
