Earlier this month I attended the American Society of Civil Engineers Construction Institute Summit in Orlando, Florida. The two days featured cutting edge innovations in construction and provided ample learning opportunities geared around enhancing construction project success.
During the summit, I had the great pleasure of joining four other professionals to present on “The Importance of Developing the Next Generation of Leaders Within Your Company.” Each of the presenters represented a different generation and provided a dynamic way of learning about the expectations and desires of each generation relative to training, mentoring, career development, performance reviews and feedback, networking, workforce management, and work-life balance. The audience was engaged and participative, allowing for a greater learning opportunity by all.
It was clear throughout the course of the presentation that everyone agreed that mentorship and communication play a vital role in bridging the gap between the generations.
